POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller contributes to the overall success of Horizon Group Holdings by effectively managing all financial tasks, including overseeing accounting transactions and accurate reporting. The Assistant Controller directs and plans the month-end closing process, providing corporate accounting support to the regional controllers. The Assistant Controller is responsible for maintenance of the general ledger, integrity of accounting transactions, and proper application of US GAAP principles.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and prepared in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage the monthly close process to ensure adherence to reporting deadlines and quarterly requirements.
- Assist in the creation of budget estimates; analyze trends affecting budget needs to ensure accuracy.
- Lead a team of staff and senior accountants to provide corporate accounting services to regional controllers.
- Prepare all supporting information for annual audits with the approved external auditors.
- Assist with supporting documentation for all direct and indirect tax filings.
- Oversee the reconciliation of all debt, bank, and investment accounts; manage the preparation of cash flow forecasting.
- Oversee the preparation of reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts.
- Assist with the refresh of policies and procedures, ensuring adequate documentation and process flows to ensure future scalability.
- Draft accounting memos on complex accounting entries as needed based US GAAP's codification
- Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required, Field of Study: Finance, Accounting, or Business Management
Experience: 10 plus years of experience in Finance/Accounting Supervisory Role
Computer Skills:Microsoft Office Suite Accounting and Financial Software
Certifications & Licenses: CPA Preferred
Other Requirements:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control principles.
Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations on business issues.
