As a Sr. Payroll Practitioner at Horizon Services, you will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Newark, DE. You will be an integral part of our payroll team, which is responsible for collecting and accurately processing time sheets for full-time and part-time Horizon Services employees. The team is also responsible for recording data in our accounting system and communicating with employees/ managers by phone and email with high level of customer service.
The Sr Payroll Practitioner
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payrolls for several HVAC/Plumbing companies across the US. Including salary, hourly, commission, and piecework
- Manage complicated pay exceptions, bonus and incentive payments, retroactive pay, and overpayments
- Assist with audits, quarter and year end reconciliation
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting principles and the ability to track, organize, analyze, and report data in a clear manner
- Balancing earnings and deductions totals, determine and correct out of balance conditions
- Research and prepare special reports for management
- Process garnishments and levies
- Maintain high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
- Participate in projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, including FLSA, IRS regulations, and state/local tax laws
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information
- Advanced Excel Skills
